About Me - Bio Born, bred and rooted in Long Island, New York, and graduate of Hofstra University (1987) with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Mary Ellen Walsh built her career starting in the Managing Editorial Department of Avon Books, transitioning to public relations agencies KCS&A, Rowland Worldwide and Ruder Finn. She was an agency specialist on a number of large, well-known, consumer product national public relations campaigns including: Combat’s Search for the World’s Largest Cockroach, Kal Kan’s Pedigree PETathalons, Sheba Food For Cats, and the GLAD Bag-A-Thon with Keep America Beautiful among many other clients. Result-oriented, Walsh handled all aspects of the business from writing press kit materials, copy points for spokespersons, speeches, public service announcements to orchestrating special events and conducting creative meetings for annual client seminars. Working with editors throughout the country in various print, radio and television media, she gained both local press coverage for target-market events as well as national publicity. Walsh simultaneously began a freelance writing career. In 1998, 1999 and 2002, Walsh gave birth to three children, Robert, Kelly and Melanie and joined the ranks of motherhood on Long Island dedicating time, while knee-deep in diapers, to multi-tasking and managing a bustling household of five. In 2005, she set up shop in her home and began freelance writing again. |
